Building Tips #2 Interior Design

Now you know how to make a good-looking house from the outside you need to know how to make it look good on the inside. Here are few tips:

Colour Schemes

When making a house it is important to notice what colours you are using. You can them use them on the inside as carpets or walls. Having a red wool house and putting a yellow and blue floor on it may look good but the colours will probably clash:

See what I mean?!
The reason for this is:
1. The house looks awful! The windows are OK, but it's just made out of wool and the doors don't suit it. Urggh!
2.The colours don't work together. The blue and yellow on the floor stand out too much and the red wool just doesn't suit the colour a house should be. Also the pressure plates are wooden so there are too many colours.
3.The designer of the build has not thought at all. He just made it thinking it would be good.

A good floor should be made out of two or three colours and have a nice repetitive feel to them. The colours should work together nicely and should not stand out like a sore thumb! Here are some floors made with just planks:
Much better!

Furniture

Good furniture should be simple and effective. It should also be made out of one or two blocks otherwise it becomes messy. also if a room has too much furniture it will feel and look cramped which is not good. Here are some examples of some furniture and rooms.
Wooden Seats made with Signs

Tables

Standard Kitchen

Standard Bathroom (I know the toilet's too big!)

The Skeleton

The Skeleton is another two high mob which shoots at the player when they are near. When killed they drop 0-2 arrows and 0-2 bones. They also have a chance to drop a bow (Sometimes enchanted) and also have a chance to drop armour if they are wearing it.

Skeletons will now shoot faster the nearer the player gets making melee combat harder. Also in the nether, wither skeletons will spawn. They are a black version of the skeleton and have a chance of dropping a wither skeleton skull. They do not have bows but stone swords instead.
Skeletons also drop very useful loot so they are one of the most common types of mob grinders

Mod Spotlight: Gravity Gun

Gravity Gun
Gravity Gun is a very fun mod which adds just two items to your game.
These items are gravity guns and can be used to lift up blocks and mobs and throw them high into the air.
Both Gravity Guns

The Supercharged Gravity Gun in Hand

A Grass Block Held in Mid-Air

A Grass Block Being Flung

A Creeper Being Held by The Gravity Gun

Mod Spotlight: Buildcraft #1 Pipes

The poll has ended! :( But the winning mods will now have their spotlights! :) So... Here they are:
Buildcraft
Buildcraft was one of the first (and in my opinion) one of the best mods in minecraft.
It adds all kinds of pipes and machines into your game including builders, engines and quarrys!
So without further ado lets start our spotlight...
The first pipe you will need is the wooden pipe:
To use, it you need to put an engine down below the pipe and then it will suck out items from an adjacent inventory.

The next two pipes are just used for moving items: The stone pipe and the cobblestone pipe.
The gold pipe is similar to them but will speed up the movement of the items.

The iron pipe is used to direct the items a certain way.

Diamond pipes are used to sort items into up to 6 paths.

Emerald pipes are just like wooden pipes, but have the option of a blocking round-robin filter.

All pipes are crafted with 1 glass and 2 material.

#2 Machines coming soon...

Building Tips #1: Improving Your House

Many people in minecraft think wooden houses like this:

 Look cool!
But they are not a bad starting point if you want to make something like this:
This is a totally vanilla house made out of mostly wood planks, wood, some slabs and some decoration.
Here is how to make it:
1. First make a wooden house (8x8) out of planks and add doors and windows.

2.Then put normal wood on the end of each wall. (If this doesn't make sense use the picture below)
3.Then replace the roof with sideways wood and then put brick slabs on top. Also put item frames with anvils in on the sideways wood and put torches on them.
4.Then put stone slabs all around above the windows. You can also make a gravel or stone path coming out of your house.
5.Then you can decorate the inside and outside. Enjoy!

The Creeper

The creeper is by far the most known creature (or mob) in minecraft. Almost silent killers with only a hiss... and then BOOM! Your diamonds are gone and the rest of your items have been blown up by an explosion you couldn't have known was coming. Here it is...

Creeper
Pretty scary huh?!
Here are some of the facts:
Creepers (like most other hostile mobs) are two blocks high. They use a unique attack method of blowing up in front of the player. If a creeper has been struck by lightning it will become supercharged and it's explosion will be much bigger.
Creepers spawn almost anywhere in the Overworld as long as it is dark and not in a mushroom biome.
The Best way to defeat a creeper is to hit it and then run backwards. Then repeat the process. This works because the creeper will only explode if you are close to it.
